Miriam Gutzke is a counsellor at the Directorate-General for Climate Policy, European and International Policy of the German Federal Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB). On behalf of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), she is responsible for bilateral cooperation with countries of the MENA region – in particular Iran, Jordan and Egypt – within the context of climate change mitigation, adaptation and environmental protection. Previously, Miriam worked in the field of sustainable investments, climate and energy finance at Deutsche Bank for nine years. She gathered her first professional experience in China during a business exchange program with Deutsche Bank China in 2008, followed by assignments at the Delegation of the European Union to China and GIZ’s Sino-German Biogas project. Miriam holds an MSc in Global Environmental Change from King’s College London and a diploma in Business Administration from Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University Karlsruhe.
