Dr Yu Qingnian , Associate Professor, is now the assistant director of National Research Center for Resettlement (NRCR), also the deputy director of the Faculty of Land Resource Management in the Public Administration School at Hohai University. She is a member of International Association for the Study of Forced Migration (IASFM), Society for Applied Anthropology (SfAA), UK Development Study Association (DSA), China Sociology Association, and China Land Association. She is also the Chinese coordinator of Network for Sustainable Hydropower Development in Mekong regions (NSHD-M) sponsored by GIZ. She has acted as the resettlement and social specialist or staff consultant for many ADB or WB sovereign-loan projects. She has published over 20 articles in professional journals or conference proceedings. She has been involved in over 30 international, national, provincial and local research projects as the project leader or key researcher. For example, ‘Social Stability and Social Management Mechanism for Land-loss Farmers’ by the National Major Social Science Fund, ‘Climate Change Migration in the Context of Extreme Drought in Southwest China’ by the Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities, ‘Strengthening the Capacity of Social Impact Assessment for Urban Infrastructure Projects in China’ funded by the Ministry of Housing and Construction, ‘Resettlement Practice and Exploration of Danjiangkou Reservoir for South-to-North Water Diversion Project’ funded by the South-to-North Water Diversion Project Office, ‘Application of International Hydropower Sustainability Assessment Protocol in Assessing Nuozhadu Hydropower Project in Yunnan Province’ funded by Lancangjiang Hydropower Development Company.
